I’m a freelance journalist, editor and podcaster - these days I’m most focused on local / national government and sustainability. I’m really interested in who makes decisions, and why, and the effect it has on us all.

My freelance bylines include The Scotsman, Edinburgh Reporter, The Independent, Refinery29, The Telegraph, Tortoise (now The Observer), The Guardian, Grazia and many more.

Most recently, I conceptualised and was associate producer of an Audible Original podcast called Coatbridge: The Disappearance of Moira Anderson. It went on to win an award at the National Press Awards in Scotland.

My background is in finance and economics journalism. Could you be more niche than editor of ETF.com Europe? I also wrote The Financial Times, Citywire, Financial News and Investment & Pensions Europe.

I spent 18 months in New York covering the 2016 presidential election for The Independent. After returning to London, I joined The Independent’s award-winning Voices desk and became a commissioning editor. I’ve spoken on and chaired various panels, from women in the exchange traded fund industry and Sex and the City’s 20th anniversary to Justin Trudeau’s politics.

My current creative projects are working on a debut novel, and I’m writing a screenplay based on my grandfather’s memoir about attending a borstal school in 1930’s Scotland.

Two of my essays are in print: one on Sheryl Sandberg’s feminist legacy with Toucan Books (spring 2019) and one on Edith Wharton’s New York with Elwin Street Productions.

Corporate work: I’ve written / worked for clients including FAIRR, Equileap, Partech, and various other think tanks / asset managers / companies that align with my values. Please contact me about proofreading / editing / copywriting requests.
